At the Roman necropolis in Carmona, Spain, visitors are led to the popular "Elephant's Tomb," a large underground chamber that gets its name from a crude sculpture of an elephant found there.

Now archaeologists are saying it may not be a tomb at all, but rather a temple to one of the ancient world's most mysterious religions. A team from the University of Pablo de Olavide, Seville, has analyzed the structure and says it was once a mithraeum, an underground temple for the god Mithras.

Alla necropoli romana a Carmona, Spagna, i visitatori sono guidati alla famosa "Tomba di elefante", una grande camera sotterranea, che prende il nome da una scultura grezza di un elefante ivi collocata.

Ora gli archeologi dicono che potrebbe non essere una tomba, ma piuttosto un tempio di una delle religioni più misteriosia del mondo antico. Un team dell'Università di Pablo de Olavide, Siviglia, ha analizzato la struttura e dice che una volta era un mitreo, un tempio sotterraneo del dio Mitra.
